PicSea was founded by Andrew Durrant, an underwater robotics entrepreneur
who has developed maintained and deployed autonomous ocean systems all over the world getting clients the data and answers they need.
After more than 10 years working in underwater robotics, imaging, computer vision, photogrammetry, data processing and logistics, he started PicSea to help businesses and science access and understand seafloor data.

70% of the world's surface is underwater, but it remains almost completely unknown to us. To date, 95% of our oceans remain completely unexplored.
Using thousands of underwater robots, we can explore these hidden depths more easily now than ever before.
Our groundbreaking technology has dramatically reduced the cost and complexity of creating autonomous underwater vehicles.
It's enabled us to produce robots that can work on their own, or in coordinated groups, without the need for the constant monitoring or expensive insurance required by other vehicles.
We are now working with these partners with a Mar-RI funded project - 'Global Ocean Surveillance Network'- to build our first network of robots that will help offshore renewables manage their sites more efficiently and provide better insights.
